Science Based Targets initiative

Basic Information

Description

The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) is a collaborative framework that helps companies set greenhouse gas emission reduction targets aligned with the latest climate science. The initiative provides the necessary criteria and guidance for organizations to transition to a net-zero economy. Specifically, the standard ITU-T L.1470 (Greening Digital) was developed in collaboration with the SBTi, the GSMA, and GeSI to provide sectoral decarbonization pathways for the ICT industry. This ensures that emissions trajectories are consistent with the objective of limiting global warming to 1.5°C in line with broader climate-action goals.
